U.S. Charities
Not all charities accept car or vehicle donations. However, there are many that will accept your used car.
The following list is an example of American charities and what they do with the donations.
American Diabetes Association: The mission of the organization is to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of people affected by diabetes. They work with a car donation program that makes all the arrangements and provides a tax receipt.
San Francisco SPCA: Not only do they accept cars, but they will also take boats, jet skis, snowmobiles, commercial vehicles, and trailers. They will sell it and devote the proceeds to saving homeless animals.
Special Kids Fund: You can donate your car, truck, RV, or boat to help care for the medically, educationally, and developmentally challenged. The towing will be free of charge and a tax receipt will be given.
ALS Association: You will receive a tax receipt when you donate your car or boat. Through a contracted processing company, Car Program LLC, will arrange for pick-up. Vehicles will be resold and funds will be used within the organization.
American Kidney Fund: They have arranged with the nation's largest car donation charity. You can donate your car, boat, truck, camper, or RV and receive a tax receipt for its fair market value. The car can be donated even if it's not running and all arrangements will be made.
Cancer Fund of America: The proceeds from the car donation will help the charity, which is a non-profit organization. It will help relieve the financial burden of individuals with cancer and their families. It will not be used to conduct research, but provide support and services to financially impoverished cancer patients, those for whom research may be too late.
Family Care Foundation: They provide humanitarian development and disaster relief in over 50 countries. Cars, trucks, boats, or RVs are accepted as a form of donation. The vehicle does not have to be in working condition and arrangements will be made to pick it up, free of charge. And the necessary paperwork for your tax deduction will also be provided.
