Addicted to Your Smartphone? Tips To Reduce Usage

Addicted to Your Smartphone? Tips To Reduce Usage

Do you feel that your smartphone controls your life and you can’t concentrate on your daily activities? If that’s the case, you are addicted, and you need to do something about it. Fortunately, it’s possible to reclaim your life and stop your phone from interfering with the vital things you need to do on a daily basis. This is what I call a downside to technology.

However, this does not imply that we have to stop usage of phones completely. They are good and have, in fact, made things easy. Cell phone addiction is not listed as a mental disorder in the new DSM-5 yet, however many experts compare it to a gambling addiction.

With that said, here a few great ways to practice in order to reduce your reliance on cell phone use.

Turn It off When You Get into Your Car

Well, this should be a law, and we should, in fact, look forward to the day it will become, and we all follow. It’s one of those habits that are reported to be among the causes of accidents. But should we wait until it’s made a law, so we are serious about it? No, we need to manage and end it completely. Your mind can’t be in two places at the same time. Even in Physics, there is no one thing that can occupy same space at the same time. Therefore, stop using yours whenever you are driving and do not yield to temptation of using it.

Stop Playing With It at Night

If every night you find yourself playing video games, text messaging, or even chatting on Facebook, then that’s a serious addiction, and you need to stop to stop it. You are losing your precious time over smartphone addiction. Sleep is a basic need and the moment you start giving more time to your phone than to the needs, you’re playing with your well-being and health. It’s not only serious but also makes you ineffective when it comes to doing the things that you should always do.

Create No-Smartphone Times

It’s a fact that working nowadays is highly affected by phone alerts that do not even relate to the activities we do. Work is constantly distracted, and the trend seems not to have an end any soon. However, we can end it by beginning the journey to stopping it at personal levels. That way, we’ll be able to concentrate on our daily work and be more productive. Ask those successful men around you what they do, and you’ll realize that one of their secrets to being successful is by avoiding unnecessary distractions.

Follow those tips and your smartphone will help you carry out activities effectively instead of being the reason behind your failure to be productive at work.

If you are are unsure whether or not you even have a cell phone addiction, read this great guide by Psychguide.

If you know someone that you believe has a cell phone addiction, share this with your friends and family members so we may bring awareness on this often neglected topic. This goes more than just texting while driving, even though that is a very serious issue today!

Five Things that Technology Will Make Useless In 10 Years

Five Things that Technology Will Make Useless In 10 Years

When did you last ask for driving directions, sent a fax to a co-worker or went to a store to buy a CD? It must be some years back right? Looking around, there are some things that were useful a few years ago but no longer exist nowadays due to the coming of new technologies and other innovations.

Technological progress has, indeed, changed the world. With the rise of products like consumer drones, we have no doubt that more amazing things are yet to come. From the way things are happening at the moment, it appears that we might soon forget the following:

#1: Paper

In about ten year time, schools will decrease the use of papers largely by almost 95%. That means the copier and printing industry should be prepared for such tough times that might bring things to an end. The best thing for the players is to adjust to avoid perishing apart from the losses that might not be good. All these are attributable to innovations that have come as a result of the many benefits of the paperless technology.

#2: Cable Companies

Who doesn’t know the wireless technology that’s changing things at the moment? Unlike a few years ago when every connection had to be through a wire, nowadays we can do without the wires and cables. Right from sound systems, remote controls, and many others, it’s evident that, indeed, wireless technology is taking things to a higher level.

#3: Set-Top Streamers

We do not doubt the fact that set-top streamers are the best devices at the moment. However, with time, consumers will shift to affordable and smart sets that are slowly by slowly finding a place in the hearts of many. So at the moment, we can just term set-top boxes as makeshift solutions and transition as people move to better technologies. As the years go, the boxes will lose necessity and become obsolete with other products that are currently exiting the market.

#4: Car Mirrors

Recently, cameras have gotten a place in the popular high-end cars and, in fact, everyone wants to have them in their vehicles. What does this mean to the traditional car mirrors? They are only usable for a few years before people shift fully to the use of cameras and display setups. If you were to choose between a car that uses a mirror and a camera, which one would you pick? Of course, the one with a  camera.

#5: Language Labs

A few years ago, learning a language was a process that required one to sit in a language lab and listen to an instructor. That’s why it always took a little bit longer time compared to what happens nowadays. With a smartphone, you have all you need to learn that foreign language you are interested in knowing it. Technology has, indeed, made it easy to learn anything. Whether you want to read it or watch videos, you can do so from the comfort of your home with a smartphone.

After reading these 5 above, you can definitely envision the kind of world we are heading to and how life will be with the many awesome technologies. It’s a wake-up call to all those at risk of losing their jobs and ways of earning a living. We either embrace technology or wait for our activities to become useless.

Sorry to be the Debbie Downer, but that’s the brutal truth of our future here!

Technology meets Beards: Electric Beard Trimmers That Are Worth It

This is a new avenue of reviewing for me, but it had to be done due to the demand for it. It seems that with technology advancing so rapidly, every single subject is being affected in some way or another. This is definitely the case for beauty, and there is a potent synonymy between technology and beauty. Technology companies out there like Philips and Remington know this and are taking advantage of it by building quality products for daily use.. like shaving. Forget speakers by Philips! Check out some of these top rated electric beard trimmers they make. This is one reason why I love technology so much. So now lets move onto the reviews. Which one of these products are actually worth it?

NUMBER 3: Remington HC5550 Precision Power Trimmer:

Kicking off the 3rd spot is the Remington HC5550. This trimmer comes with self sharpening, titanium coated blades. You heard it right: Self sharpening.  Nothing less to expect from what oddly enough is a firearms company in Remington. The HC550 is very precise as it’s name states and is a great started product for the young and coming teenager. The Powercut technology it comes with makes for a pretty powerful shave, so you will really never have any issue getting your beard trimmed to the ideal length. It has a smooth, rubberized grip and it does not slip out of my hands at all. That is a major plus for people that like to shave in the shower, much like myself. The main reason I put this one at #3? It can be charged with a USB! YES, you can plug this into your computer and watch it charge like a phone does. It is incredible for nerds like me when you see how everything is becoming interconnected through technology. But anyway enough of nerdness in one article, lets move on to #2.

NUMBER 2: Philips Norelco QT4050 Beard and Mustache Trimmer

I am beginning with a really great product and it feels weird to put it at only number 2. The QT4050 is the bread and butter trimmer for Philips and there is great reasons why. For starters, you won’t find better quality than this at it’s price tag. A great motor that boasts high RPM shaving, it is a wonder how an electric cordless product can product that much power? If you have an unkempt beard that just annoys you because of how thick it is, this is a great choice for you. The length settings are pretty broad as well, so you can get the most out of your money if you plan on trimming daily.
* I would recommend spending like $20 more and getting the upgraded Philips Norelco QT4070. If you can’t, than don’t worry because the QT4050 is almost equivalent to the 4070.

NUMBER 1: Wahl Pro Lithium Ion 8546

German engineering is truly magnificent. From car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz to grooming manufacturer Wahl, the technology is really impressive in that country. The Wahl Pro 8546 is a super powerful, super sleep, super awesome set of clippers that I urge every one of you to try at least once in your lifetime. It is very expensive but I can’t say that it is overpriced. The design on this product is magnificent and unparalleled, making you feel like a superhero when you hold onto it. I always had a beard for as long as I remember in my early teen years, so I have tried MANY different trimmers and clippers. This one beats them all by far. Equipped into the box is several different attachments that go onto the head of the trimmer, and serve different purposes. Of these, there are attachments for your nose, your body, and even your hair. It is a multi purpose product and it saves you a lot of time rather than using a boring razor. I threw mine out years ago. Alright before I leave all of you, remember to subscribe to my newsletter for updates on new posts and if you are ever interested in donating to a charity, please contact me by visiting the contact us page above! And before I go, I will leave you with a video of the Wahl Pro 8546 in action! Cheers.

LG 360 Cam on pre-order in the US! A Quick Review

LG 360 Cam on pre-order in the US! A Quick Review

Although LG G5 was the hero of the South Korean multinational’s offerings at the MWC event held recently in Barcelona, Spain, the company also revealed a few other devices to show off its innovative and competitive designs. These devices are supposed to be used with LG G5, as augmented hardware tools, so as to improve the G5 experience.

This latest augmentation of a handset with associated devices has changed the smartphone experience in a manner that could not have been envisaged a few years back. The two most prominent augmented devices are the 360 cam and 360 VR. The good news is that these two accessories are also available for pre-order.

In case you are in search of a shooter that can aid you in creating VR content, you can order it via B&H where the device is listed for a hefty $200.

The standalone snapper clicks and shoots images as well as videos at 360-degree angle and assembled with two 200-degree 13MP snappers, facilitating users to capture both 180 and 360-degree images and videos at 2K. In addition, it is also capable of recording 5.1 surround sound through three available microphones. The superior design ensures that, despite featuring a number of options, the device is absolutely compact and measures 30×97×25mm and weighs merely 72g.

You can swiftly click an image with a short press over the shutter button or can capture videos while using the long press. In addition, the speed of the shutter, ISO as well as white balance along with many other features can be customized as per your requirements.

The device sports 4GB of internal memory. However, if you feel like enhancing it, the microSD card slot can be used to meet the purpose. The 360 cam is backed by 1200 mAh battery, allowing you to shoot 70 minutes of recording and can be charged via USB Type C connection. In addition, the tripod mount is also included in the package.

A Variety Of Options

There is an option to download images and videos by using Bluetooth and WIFI and these clicks can be conveniently shared on YouTube, Google Street View etc.

The other LG G5 accessory, dubbed LG 360 VR is also priced at $200. The VR headset is comparable to Samsung Gear VR and Google Cardboard. However, the handset is not fixed into it as its display but the handset is still a prerequisite as it links to the G5 through USB Type C connectivity.

LG 360 VR includes in-built IPS 1.88-inch displays having 970×720p screen resolution each, equating to a total of 639p per inch, which definitely is quite bigger than your conventional 5-inch QHD displays having 587p per inch. The device weighs merely 117g and features a chassis identical to the spectacles which apparently means that you will not be required to hold it by using your hands. In addition, LG 360 VR also packs in a headphone jack or you can also use a Bluetooth headset linked to your G5.

The best part is that apart from being able to view images and videos via 360 cam, the device is also compatible with Google cardboard data.
